Bangladesh Association for Sustainable Development (BASD) is a non-government social development organization. Established in July, 1991 with the initiative of social workers, teachers, doctors and different professionals including the Church leaders of different denominations. It is registered under Social Welfare, (Reg. No. Dha –03221 in 1994), NGO Affairs Bureau (Reg. No. 886 in 1995) and Microcredit Regulatory Authority (Reg.No. 05518-04426-00431 in 2009)
BASD covers through its projects and programs the people of all faiths irrespective of caste, creed and religion. It serves all people in need putting more emphasis on the poor children, vulnerable mothers and women, unemployed adolescents and youth and the vulnerable group of people – landless, small land-holders, tribal, indigenous, elderly and the differently able people. BASD aims at holistic development that includes socio-economic and moral-ethical dimensions. All its projects and programs are located in hard-to-reach areas to serve the people in need.
BASD is greatly concerned about environment development, nature care, care of earth, care of water, care of air, care of living beings, climate change, socio-economic of the climate affected people and the poor communities living in the hard to reach areas and town slums etc. To overcome these challenges BASD has taken a long term initiative for transforming of 2,000 traditional villages into Ecovillage and Permaculture villages within 2030. In this regards, BASD is directly working in Khulna (Banishanta, Laudove, Ramnagor, Sutarkhali of Dacope), Bagerhat (Chila, Sundarbon, Chandpai Mongla Sador of Mongla), Cox’s Bazar (Ukhiya) and giving technical assistance to World Vision Bangladesh for transforming 6 traditional villages (Sunamganj – Tahirpur, Bagerhat – Rampal Sadar and Kachua, Rajshahi – Tanore and Pabana, Dinajpur – Birganj, Netrokona – Purbadhala and Bandarban – Chimbukpara).

BASD was awarded by “Mother Teresa Golden Award- 2019” for its special contribution of Humanity on 5th October, 2019 from South Asia Social Cultural Forum in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
