Learning of Permaculture Design Gardening Project, Khulna: Through generous support of Blue Mountain Permaculture Institute (BMPI)-Australia, BASD implemented a total 11 days advanced PDC and ToT for the community and staff in Proshanti Center, Banishanta, Khulna. in order to build capacity of community and staff for promotion of permaculture and organic gardening. Hence, the advanced PDC continued for a period of 5 days starting from 11-15 December 2022 where 20 (Male-03 & Female-17) participants attended. Ms. Greta Caroll and Sarah Boulle facilitated the training from BMPI, Australia. Accordingly, advanced PDC ToT provided to 20 (Male- 6 & Female-14) participants for the period from 17-22 December 2022 through their facilitation where NGO staff, CBO leaders, staff and volunteers attended. Overall the training was very participatory, cooperative and live. All of them showed their cordial interest to implement learning. Having poverty within participants’ families, they were seems very committed and thus the village and area would be sustained. PDC TOT participants are proud to have TOT training. Through discussion with participants, it has been reported that, their knowledge level has increased and technically become sound and trustworthy to conduct any training effectively and efficiently ever before. The TOT training built the Organization, Network and CBOs resourceful. All the participants thanked to BASD for such technical support and expressed their gratitude to the Trainers and donor of BMPI, Australia as well.
Organic Gardening Training for Host Communities:
Through facilitation of BMPI trainer (Ms. Greta Caroll), Australia, BASD implemented organic gardening training for the villagers of Harinmara & Ukhiya of Union Rajapalong, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar in Host Community through a proposed project location as approved by the Govt. Accordingly, the project named “Learning of Permaculture Design Gardening in Host Communities” for capacity building of the participants for growing organic vegetable as well. Important topics discussed elaborately has been focused on PDC, What is permaculture, Ethics and Principles, Climate change and its effects, Ecology, Water design, Soil, Energy, Design Methods/Community NFP analysis, Microclimate, Design Disaster, Windbreaks, Seed saving, Plants, IPM and Needs, Animal, Agroforest and Bioregion. A total of 26 participants (M-0, F-26.) had attended in the training.
After the training, along with the trained participants, the project distributed seeds among 100 participants in the village on 19 January 2023. Out of 100 trainees 19 are males and 81 are females. The UNO, Md. Abu Taher Uddin, Ukhiya distributed the seeds among participants. Later, the allotted 80 packets seed (Borboti, Lau, Kalmi & Dherosh) have been distributed among host community farmers. Farmers are happy to get the seeds. They hoping that after growing the organic vegetable they will meet the demand of family nutrition and increase family income as well.
PDC Training for NGO Officials & Local Leaders of Ukhiya:
BASD implemented 10 days advanced PDC for NGO officials and local leaders through generous support of Blue Mountain Permaculture Institute (BMPI), Australia through a proposed project location as approved by the Govt. Accordingly, the project named “Learning of Permaculture Design Gardening in Host Communities” for capacity building of the participants as well. This long duration of training was implemented in three phases from 4-7, 11-14 & 18-19 January’2023 which held at Ukhiya BASD Office, Cox’s Bazar. A total of 19 participants (M-13,F-6) from six NGOs and Community leaders attended in the training through facilitation of Ms. Greta Carroll, BMPI, Australia through translation of Md. Mamidur Rahman.
PDC Training for Rohingya Communities under Camp No.- 19, Ukhiya:
BASD implemented 5 days advanced PDC for Rohingya Communities through generous support of Blue Mountain Permaculture Institute (BMPI), Australia through a proposed project location as approved by the Govt. Accordingly, the project named “Learning of Permaculture Design Gardening in Host Communities” for capacity building of the participants as well. This training was implemented in two phases starting from 15-17, & 21-22 January 2023 on PDC that held at Camp no-19, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. A total of 20 participants (M-13, F-7) participants attended in the training. Ms. Greta Carroll, BMPI, Australia facilitated the training through translation of Md. Hamidur Rahman. After the training, the project distributed different vegetable seeds among 400 Rohingya communities including trained participants.
