The EECBVW project has been implementing since 2020 through funding for Corona affected people supported by Microcredit for Mothers (MVM), the Netherlands. The MVM helps women in Bangladesh to set up their own business through small loans, the opportunity to save and professional, entrepreneurial and leadership trainings. These programs are being implemented in Dacope, Khulna and supporting more than 500 poor and disadvantaged households and covering 2500 beneficiaries through self-help group (SHG) formation. Aiming to support to the most vulnerable women, through the generous support of the donor, BASD provided loan for implementing different initiative such as fish cultivation, vegetable gardening and small businesses including other income generation activities (IGAs) through which tangible changes can be seen among the women, within the families and communities.
Through EECBVW project, the disadvantaged women are depositing savings and getting loan for implementing their suitable IGAs very effectively and thus found that the loan recovery rate is about 98%. It has been reported that, over 85% loanee members have been able to increase their daily income from Tk.400 to Tk.700/-in Kailashgonj, Laodove and Bajua Unions. The loanee members, together with their children and husbands paying quality times in implementing IGAs and getting positive results since family income increase tremendously. Having such loan opportunities, women members have been one of the contributors in fulfilling family needs through earning. Very easily they are getting loan and being able to implement IGAs and turning towards happy family as well. At the same time, the dignity of women’s’ in the families has been increased and they are taking part in family decision and thus women empowerment is upraising as well.
