Ms. Trina Mondal is safe now from natural calamities

Ms. Trina Mondal (35), hasband name is Sukallyan Roy, they are inhabitants of the Village- Khaguria, Union- Banishanta, Upazilla- Dacope, District- Khulna. It is one of the most vulnerable area in Bangladesh. Every year heavy rainfall, flood, cyclone occurs in this area. Thus people are losing their wealth and lives in every year. Ms. Trina Mondal family’s financial condition was not good. They lived in a hut. Her husband was the day labor, worked in agriculture, he was the only earning member of this family and whatever he earns that was not sufficient. Again every year heavy rainfall, flood, cyclone destroyed her house and wealth.

Then BASD came forward to solve their problems with the financial help of Caritas Luxembourg & CAFOD through the Climate Change Resilience and Food Security (CCRFS) Project. She received a Climate Adaptation Technic House in March 2022 from BASD. BASD used following 3 Climate Adaptation Technics to her house:

1. High based low shed house (Build house base 4-5 feet higher from ground and low shed to save lives and household materials).
2. Fasten house with rope (Fastening of house with strong rope to pillar/ tree to protect from storm).
3. Placement earthen barrel (Place earthen barrel in the floor of bed room for safety and emergency food, water, medicines, important documents & materials).

These Technics are protecting her house from heavy rainfall, flood & Cyclone. Now she don’t go cyclone center during the worse environment. Ms.Trina Mondal is living with her son and husband in this house happily. She is grateful to BASD & Donors.
