Hardworking Brings Happiness

Ms. Bithika Sarder (36), wife of Mr. Dipok Sarder, is a member of “Shapla Mohila Samity”, village Ramnagar. They have 2 daughters and a son in the family, are going to school. Her husband is the only earning member in the family. It’s really very difficult to bear the family expenses since he works in the agriculture field within limited spaces of land. He cultivates some seasonal crops and vegetables that is not sufficient to meet family needs.

Ms. Bithika had a opportunity to participate in the goat rearing and organic vegetable cultivation training through BASD’s Economic and Ecological Capacity Building for Vulnerable Women (EECBVM) project, Funded by Microkrediet Voor Moeders. After receiving the training, she also received a small fund BDT 24,175 from BASD’s EECBVM project as a seed money. Then she promised to do something that might be change her family situation in order to bring additional income. With the amount she purchased a goat and the rest of the amount she started organic cultivation within her land by using homestead for vegetable gardening. Now, she has 3 goats. Her husband also helps her in this work. As a result, presently, they are getting huge organic vegetables that they can easily consume those all in the family and even selling in the local market. They don’t need to purchase vegetables from market at present. Thus their family income has been increased as well. Their children are getting fresh nutritious vegetables, drinking milk from the goat and going to school regularly with enjoy. With smiling face, she said, “I am happy with my family and grateful to BASD and the Donor.”
