Sutarkhali (Khulna) union is located on the south west coastal side of Bangladesh which exposes it to constant climate hazards such as cyclones, tidal surges, river bank erosion, salinity intrusion and more. People residing in the union are suffering the most for every year cyclone and heavy rainfall. It is mentioned that the houses, crop lands and all around were under water logging for about 23 months during cyclone `Sidr’ in mid-November 2007 and ‘Aila’ in May 2009 where the community people are still suffering as well. Due to every year disasters, the road communication is broken as a result; it’s very difficult to move even. Most of the family heads are engage in agriculture day labourer, fishing and collection of honey, golpata etc. from Sundorbons, family income is very limited. Women in these families are vulnerable. They are still struggling the most in terms of facing the hazardous situation of climate change as well as to bring their rights, dignity and empowerment.
